Faith and Branko

Faith and Branko

Shot over 7 years, this intimate documentary follows the cross-cultural relationship between musicians Faith and Branko. In 2011, Faith travels from England to Serbia to learn ‘gypsy’ accordion. She meets Roma violinist Branko and despite language barriers, they fall in love.

Captivated by their musical chemistry, they soon marry and look for better opportunities in the UK. As they get to know each other more, their relationship is tested upon realising that music may be all they have in common.

Are the adoring crowds, sizzling performances and their white-hot passion enough to keep the music playing? Open hearts and a pumping soundtrack fuel this tender look at two artists in love.” Myrocia Watamaniuk, HotDocs

“…a delight, with Branko switching from exuberant Balkan Romani styles to ragtime, classical influences and reggae, with Faith adding tight accordion backing and solos…” Robin Denslow, The Guardian
