The Kingston Red Barons

The Kingston Red Barons, the only female hockey team in Kingston in the 1960s and 70s, were trailblazers. One of the most talented, exciting teams in Canada they also ran hockey schools for girls, and organized provincial, national, and local tournaments.

The Red Baron’s success as a team and their determined commitment to promoting women’s hockey helped lay the groundwork for Canada’s women’s team being among the elite of international hockey today.

“It is little known nor appreciated just how much this team has changed the face of hockey in Kingston and Canada,” David McCallum, Kingstonist, Owen Fullerton, October 2021
